Will braces affect sports play, music lessons, and other activities for my teen?
We are often asked, "Will braces interfere with playing sports?" The answer is.. nope! It is recommended, however, that patients protect their smiles by wearing a mouth guard when participating in any sporting activity. Mouth guards are inexpensive, comfortable, and come in a variety of colors and patterns. Please let the doctor know that one is needed.
If our patient plays a musical instrument, we gladly work with them and their music instructor to make sure braces do not interfere with upcoming concerts or competitions.

This month we have made enhancements to our 1st Ave N office. We've installed new flooring, purchased new treatment chairs, and invited our mural artist back to add some new details to our wall paintings. There's more updating to come, and we can't wait to show you!

Dr. McEntire's Orthodontic classmates visit St. Pete!
Dr. McEntire had some very special visitors this weekend! The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Orthodontic Residency class of 2013 traveled from Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Virginia to visit Dr. McEntire and his family in the sunshine state. He was thrilled to show them around the Amley McEntire Orthodontic office!
Dr. Rob's SURPRISE retirement party
On Dr. Rob's last day, his wife Roberta and the Amley McEntire team surprised him at his home to celebrate him after the work day. The look on his face was priceless as he walked through the door and saw us waiting for him in his living room. Dr. Ed made a beautiful toast which kicked off the continued celebration. Roberta prepared a beautiful table setting and home cooked dinner, and we laughed and reminisced as we ate. For dessert, we all indulged in a delicious coconut cake from Wrights Gourmet in Tampa. What a special night for a special boss, orthodontist and person. We love you Dr. Rob!
We will miss you, Dr. Rob! Happy Retirement!
This past Monday was a bittersweet day at the Amley McEntire Orthodontic office. Dr. Rob officially retired and to say that we will miss him is an understatement. We know his patients feel the same way. Dr. Ed, his brother and partner, shares the following message:
"The best professional decisions I made as an orthodontist were to decide to practice in St. Petersburg, FL and to ask my brother Rob to join me in our practice after he finished his duty with the US Air Force. We have now practiced together as brothers for 41 years. By being able to work together and share the demand of an orthodontic practice, both of us have had more free time to be active in community activities. Apart we would have never been able to serve in such places as the Salvation Army, Rotary, Bible Study Fellowship, Museum of Fine Arts, our churches, or Westminster Communities. I will miss Rob as another professional chapter opens for me, but an exciting chapter now with Dr. McEntire and our great staff."

A Merry Service Day at the Ronald McDonald House
On Friday, The Amley McEntire team had the privilege of preparing and serving lunch to the residents of the Ronald McDonald Central House. The menu included fried chicken, home made mac and cheese, salad, potato chips, and brownies. What a special time of year to be together out in our wonderful community. We were so impressed with the Ronald McDonald House organization and are excited to go back!

Dr. McEntire's Dental Mission Trip to Haiti
"I can't think of a better time in my life and in the calendar year to have gone on a trip like this. Though we were able to provide some dental services and share some soccer balls with the people of Beau Sejour (Haiti), I know for a fact that I gained more than I provided. There's an awkward feeling of guilt associated with that knowledge. We've been back for a few days now, and I continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude. Among a multitude of other things in my life, I'm thankful for our practice "family," which most intimately includes our team and our patients. Thank you for allowing me to have a great job in a GREAT community. Happy Holidays!"

Announcing our NEW 4th Street Office!
While continuing to serve our patients in our flagship office on 1st Avenue N, we are excited to announce that we began seeing patients at a new location on 4th Street located above the Boater's Republic store and directly next to Burns and Associates Dentist Office.
We made this change to better serve our patients living in this area, who will be able to reduce time away from school, work and family while coming in for their orthodontic visits.
Our first day in our new location was on November 1, and we appreciate all of the positive feedback from our patients who have already come to see us on 4th Street.
When visiting the new office, you may park behind the building and take the elevator up to the 2nd floor.
