A moment to honor a St. Pete legend...

Dr. McEntire reflects on Dr. Amley’s Retirement:

I remember my first conversations about Dr. Ed and I remember the first time I talked to him on the phone. I was finishing orthodontic residency in Virginia with hopes of moving to the Tampa Bay Area. My father in law, a dentist in Tampa, suggested that I give Dr. Ed a call. The call was to ask about orthodontics in the area, and from that moment forward, I knew that when talking with the Amley brothers, I would be dealing with men of integrity. We had a few lunches and spent time on the phone over the next couple of years, and when the time was right they put together a plan that worked for all of us to have me step in as the more formal leader in the practice. It was then that I learned what a true leader looks like.

A true leader continues to lead even when he doesn’t have to. I got to witness for the last 4.5 years that Dr. Ed cares just as much today about our practice as he did when he and Dr. Rob were running things. I know he CARES about each of our patients as well as each member of our team. He never quit learning— wanting to stay in-the-know on new techniques with Invisalign and the bracket system that we use to make sure our patients received the best treatment possible.

Though we haven’t gotten to spend much time together in person over the last 6 months, my wife Abby and I do look forward to spending some quality time with Dr. Ed and Margaret soon. Dr. Ed, we’re looking forward to that day. Thank you so much for your guidance and your support, and thank you most of all for our friendship. Our work family and home family wish you a very Merry Christmas, a happy new year, and HAPPY RETIREMENT!!
