Office Update: Appointments Resume in May

5/1/2020

Dear patients and families,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few weeks, and all of us are looking forward to resuming some our normal habits and routines. We are gradually reopening our office starting next week.  While many things have changed, our commitment to your safety remains the same.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • Upon arrival you will be asked some questions pertaining to the following: recent travel, recent illness, recent fever, shortness of breath or cough, etc…

  • We will take each patient’s temperature prior to entering our clinic.

  • We are going to ask that only our patients (and one parent/ guardian if needed) plan to enter our facilities. We plan to have attendants escorting patients to and from the parking lot.

  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find hand sanitizing stations in other areas of the office for you to use as needed.

  • Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

  • Upon appointment completion, we will be text messaging or calling to assist in scheduling the patient’s recommended next appointment.

We so look forward to seeing you again! To make an appointment, please call or text our office at 727-381-1062 or email us at appt@amcsmiles.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends. See you soon.

The floss: how to care for your teeth IN BETWEEN appointments

amley-mcentire_Logo.png

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Please do not hesitate to call, email, or text our office. We are happy to talk through potential trouble shooting with your treatment, or even mail you certain materials if needed.

Oral hygiene

We strongly encourage you to maintain the oral hygiene habits of you and your children despite these current times in which our daily routines have been altered. As we mention at the beginning of treatment, the lack of proper hygiene can lead to white spots on the teeth as well as cavities later on. Oral hygiene is important!

Braces tips

Please continue to wear elastics as you have been prescribed. We are having to postpone non-emergency appointments, but if you have immediate questions or concerns please give us a call. You may also send us a picture showing your treatment progress to receive some additional feedback from Dr. McEntire. He’d love to hear from you!

Invisalign tips

Keep up the great work of wearing your trays! If you are due for a new series please make sure to wear your last tray as a temporary retainer for now. If you believe you are due to have some “IPR” completed at your next appointment, no need to worry. This can be completed at a different stage in your care. We encourage you to give us a call with any questions or concerns.

Happy Teeth During the Holidays

Unknown.jpeg

As we kick off the holiday season with Halloween, we’d like to share a few tips to keep your brackets in place and your teeth cavity free! Here are a few tricks as you enjoy your treats:

  1. Avoid sticky, chewy candy and biting directly into hard candies, as this can lead to broken brackets and an extra visit to the orthodontist.

  2. Brush your teeth more frequently. Sugar LOVES clinging to teeth and can lead to excess plaque. Prolonged plaque on the teeth causes cavities.

  3. Make sure to floss like a boss. Threaders given to you by your orthodontist and dentist allow you to take care of the “in between” parts of your teeth. This is a sneaky hiding spot for food and sugar.

Enjoy! We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween with your family and friends!

A welcoming evening!

We had the best time hosting some of our friends in the Tampa dental community for an open house at our new Tampa location! We enjoyed delicious food from neighborhood favorite restaurants… Mott & Hester Deli, Miguels, and Acropolis. What a special evening!
